Do I need a consultation before having Botox??
Yes, without a thorough consultation a practitioner will not know what your expected outcomes are or how much Botox to administer to achieve the results you want. Not having a consultation is risky from a health point of view too, as the practitioner won’t have discussed the risks and side-effects with you or be aware of your medical history. Botox takes a minimum of three months to wear off so if you risk having the treatment without a consultation, then you may have to deal with unsatisfactory results for a considerable amount of time.
How much does a cosmetic injections consultation cost?
This will vary from different clinics – Parkway Prosthodontics a thorough consultation with Dr Alina Lenz is $200 and includes a detailed analysis of your skin, a full clinical assessment, and a comprehensive treatment plan. Some clinics offer free consultations, but it is unlikely that a practitioner will be able to gain the detailed information needed to produce the optimum results during a free consultation. A free consultation is highly unlikely to include a skin imaging analysis, for example.
We will put the $200 Consultation fee towards your cosmetic treatment.
Why is a Doctor better for Botox injections or fillers, than a nurse or other spa staff?
The main risk from nurses or other spa staff administering the drug without the necessary training is when adverse reactions occur. When not anticipated, these can be big trouble, especially if the facilities “supervising physician” is offsite. Your doctor should conduct a full consultation, review your medical history, and construct a plan to provide the safest and best results – other staff members simply do not have the years of experience and expertise that physicians do.
Additional medical training is important. Botox is a specialized medical procedure that requires medical education in the anatomy and physiology of the facial muscles, nerves, blood vessels, etc. One must know exactly where to place the needle and how much filler to use. If the location is off by just a quarter of an inch, the result may cause the eye to close or the eyebrow to droop.
Don't worry, all Injections and fillers are performed by our licensed DMD, Dr. Alina Lenz. Learn more about her and her training here.
