The Right Dental Care Can Change Your Life

woman at the dentist

When visiting the dentist, patients always have an expectation before they arrive. If they visit a practice who only sees them as another patient and not as a person, then that’s going to affect the quality of the care. When building a dental team, it’s incredibly important that all our members put a large emphasis on patient care, not just getting the work done and moving on.

Building a relationship with patients and taking the extra time to answer questions they have about their oral care is a key tenet at Parkway Prosthodontics. Our newest hygienist Mallory, who will be joining us in the next month, holds that belief very close to her heart. We hope you’ll enjoy getting to know more about her as she makes her transition to Parkway Prosthodontics!

A Closer Look at Mallory’s Passion for Dentistry

It’s important to note that Mallory didn’t start her dental career as a hygienist initially. For years, she had been a dental assistant and loved every part of it. She enjoyed all the aspects of patient care, especially helping patients maintain their healthy smiles. This compelled her to pursue her education further.

Thanks to her many years working as a dental assistant, she doesn’t have to think twice about whether or not the dental field is right for her. Making patients comfortable and feeling well cared for is just a perk to the job, not a burden or chore. Mallory gets great satisfaction from removing stubborn calculus that causes gum disease, restoring patients’ mouths, and providing advice to people of all ages on improving their oral and overall health.

According to Dr. Ryan, it’s this passion and dedication that keeps patients coming back.

Mallory’s Journey to Becoming a Hygienist

Before becoming a hygienist, Mallory worked as a dental assistant for four years. While working as an assistant, she had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Ryan. Any time she needed Mallory’s help with patients, Mallory obliged because she always felt comfortable and appreciated while assisting at her practice.

As she was finishing her education at dental hygienist school, she stayed in contact with Dr. Ryan who was looking for other dental assistants to add to the practice. Mallory saw this as an opportunity to continue working with Dr. Ryan, but now as a hygienist and not just an assistant. Long story short, she’s practically got a schedule prepared for her once she officially joins the practice!

Learn about the Mallory Outside of Parkway

Originally born in Oklahoma, Mallory has been living in Florida since she was 13 years old. She moved here after her father opened his own business in Jacksonville. Today, she’s married to her loving husband whom she met in Myrtle Beach. They’ll be celebrating their one-year anniversary in late May.

A fun fact about Mallory is that she’s actually bilingual! She previously visited Puerto Rico for vacation but ended up staying for an entire year because she enjoyed it so much. While there, she had the chance to speak Spanish daily, a skill that she now carries with her into the practice.

We can’t wait for her to join our practice and for patients to experience her care!

Mark's Dental Story

When it comes to transforming smiles and improving people’s lives, you don’t have to take our word for it. One of our recent patients had an experience we thought you and your loved ones should be aware of as well. No matter how complex the case, Dr. Ryan is specifically trained to restore teeth damaged by decay, infection, or simply aging. Take Mark for example.

Mark needed extensive work done in his case and has gone through numerous dental treatments in the past. Frustrated by all the fillings, crowns, and root canals, Mark realized he needed a change. According to him, the moment he walked into Parkway Prosthodontics, he knew it was the right practice for him.

Why Dr. Ryan’s Care is Synonymous with Perfection

How Mark was Introduced

Initially, Mark was referred to us from his periodontist. By the time he was walking out of the office, he was put at ease. After speaking with Dr. Ryan about his previous work and the treatments he needed, as well as discussing the extensive treatment plan with his wife back home, he knew Parkway could make his treatment happen.

After a few veneers and a couple dental implants, Mark could say with confidence that he had never experienced a dental treatment as great as the one he received at our practice.

A Practice for the Whole Family

As it turns out, Mark isn’t the only one in the family with positive dental stories. “My wife Tina, my daughter, and my son-in-law all come to Parkway Prosthodontics,” he later told us. “I tell everyone once you come to Dr. Ryan, you won’t go anywhere else.”

Every time he visits, we love to joke and catch up with him and learn how his family’s been doing since his last visit. We’ve always believed that building this patient connection is key to improving the overall patient experience, other than providing high-quality care.

How the Biolase Improves Your Dental Experience

Biolase machine

We understand that many patients put off dental treatment because they can’t stand the tools traditionally used by dentists. These metal tools are anything but comfortable to feel, which is why we’ve made the effort to include the Biolase, a device that allows for gentler procedures without compromising on effectiveness.

With Biolase, we can reduce sensitivity commonly experienced after dental treatments, reduce discomfort, and speed up the healing time needed after oral surgeries. Because of it’s precision and accuracy, we can eradicate bacteria that can’t be removed with traditional tools and still be gentle on your oral tissue.

What Treatments Can Biolase Be Used For?

It’s astonishing how versatile laser dentistry allows us to be at the practice. Routine deep cleanings such as scaling and root planing are more precise than ever thanks to Biolase. Additionally, we can easily perform:

  • Crown lengthening
  • Frenectomies
  • Gingivectomies
  • and tissue biopsies

What’s convenient about the Biolase device is it doesn’t require any additional scheduling to use. Special surgical procedures can be completed in the same amount of time, so you don’t have to sacrifice more time to get a better experience.

Biolase is Suitable for Patients of All Ages

It doesn’t matter if you’re an adult or a child, laser dentistry is still safe and effective. Your child can get treatments like frenectomies and biopsies when needed but they won’t have to worry about getting sutures afterward. The affected area will heal much quicker and soon, your child can continue their daily habits without soreness or discomfort.

At Parkway Prosthodontics, we hope to offer you the benefits that come with laser dentistry and a dedicated dental staff every day. Feel free to tell your friends and loved ones about our care. We can’t wait to meet them in person!
